Explore Art at McArthurGlen Vancouver
At McArthurGlen Vancouver, we believe in the power of art to connect, inspire, and embrace stories. We are proud to showcase and celebrate the artistic expressions of our local community and its rich cultural heritage.
In honour of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Musqueam people, the original custodians of this land, we have dedicated a space to acknowledge their enduring presence and contributions. Within the Musqueam Recognition Area, you will discover a captivating narrative and artwork generously shared by the Musqueam community, celebrating their culture, heritage, and the land in which we are situated. We invite you to explore the Musqueam Recognition art installation, situated adjacent to the children's adventure area.
Introducing the remarkable work of local contemporary artist Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas. 'SEI,' an awe-inspiring 20-foot sculpture meticulously crafted from eight and a half tons (3,855 kilograms) of stainless steel, copper, granite, and marble over 18 months, takes its name from the sei whale, one of the largest in its species. The stainless steel arch, soaring four meters above the ground, artfully captures the iconic breach of a whale leaping from the water. Yahgulanaas, known for pioneering the Haida Manga style, seamlessly blends indigenous symbolism with Asian comic book aesthetics. 'SEI' stands as the centerpiece of our center, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in its breathtaking beauty and the artist's visionary creativity.
Step into a world of creativity as we introduce our innovative and frequently varied art installations. This piece, crafted by the talented local artist duo, the WKNDRS, is not only a testament to our English heritage as a business but also offers a modern twist on London's iconic phone booths, providing the perfect backdrop for capturing memorable photos in contemporary London. It’s worth noting that these installations were launched by female artists in celebration of International Women’s Day, adding an extra layer of significance to their presence and story.
As the home of joy, discover our captivating heart sculpture – a symbol of joy and love that beckons you to capture and cherish the moment. Whether you're here with friends, family, or a solo day of exploration, this iconic installation serves as a delightful photo backdrop, allowing you to create lasting memories at McArthurGlen Vancouver.
