An homage to Normandie
McArthurGlen’s signature development style embraces its important local communities and pays keen attention to the heritage of a centre’s surrounding area. Throughout construction and planning, the Group’s approach to Paris-Giverny has been no different. To showcase the Normandy region’s rich and diverse history of craftsmanship, the new centre will soon launch its dedicated immersive space, GVRNY - its very own Maison des Métiers d'Art.
McArthurGlen has partnered with world-renowned designer, Mathieu Lehanneur, to create the architectural concept for GVRNY, which will be home to 130 artisans and creators, from ceramicists to woodworkers, the majority of whom are from Normandy. Opening at the end of May, GVRNY has been developed in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (The CCI) and the Chamber of Crafts and Artisanship of the Eure (The CMA) and will be managed in collaboration with renowned French retail operator, Arteum.
Setting a new standard for designer outlet shopping
Designer Outlet Paris-Giverny is home to permanent art installations that enrich the experience for guests while they shop, eat, and relax. Art pieces including ‘Moonlight’ - Horse at Water by British artist Nic Fiddian-Green and Penelope Waiting by the French sculptor Emile-Antoine Bourdelle will be on display.
Further cementing the centre as a destination for culture, visiting aesthetes will be able to explore a dedicated gallery space from internationally renowned experts in sculpture, Sladmore, and discover creations by local talent curated by The Musée des Impressionnismes Giverny, including Norman contemporary artist, Seb Toussaint.
The product of meaningful partnerships
McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Paris-Giverny has been brought to life through the joint venture between McArthurGlen Group and Simon Property Group Co. (NYSE SPG). Spanning over 20,000 sqm, the centre will create 700 new jobs for the local area.
Emmanuel Cronier, Managing Director Europe at Simon Property Group, said: "At Simon, we look to develop and own assets that will become true destinations for the future. We are confident that Designer Outlet Paris-Giverny will advance the growth trajectory that we have seen since the inception of our decade-long partnership with McArthurGlen.”
Paris-Giverny has been designed in partnership with architectural practice, Arte Charpentier, which has created the highly contemporary and sustainable space built by Eiffage Construction and Guintoli. Striking living walls by the French artist and botanist, Patrick Blanc, and expertly implemented by Biotecture, are complemented by an expanse of green roofing. The site’s bespoke, covered outdoor play area, featuring a spectacular multi-story spiral slide, was designed and built by Pro Urba.
The region’s new shopping destination has been developed with the support of the local authorities, the Seine Normandie Agglomeration (SNA), as well as the Town Hall of Douains.
