Two Daleks made for an intergalactic BBC Children in Need fundraising event 27 years ago, and then mysteriously vanished seven years later, have dramatically been reunited with their custodian and builder in Swindon after an investigation by Wiltshire Police.
Intergalactic visitors return to McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon for Pudsey fundraiser.
Favourite sci-fi heroes and villains, Pudsey Bear and special guests will gather at the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon for another intergalactic fundraiser for BBC Children in Need called Return to Space Station Pudsey on Friday 17th November starting at 3pm – although messages have been picked up from outer space which indicate ambassadors from other galaxies may arrive earlier in the day !
Daleks, Cybermen and Star Wars storm troopers will mingle with excited shoppers to encourage support for this year's Appeal. Also included will be static displays of alien monsters from classic Doctor Who and more recent episodes from the popular television series. This is not the first Space Station Pudsey to be staged in Swindon with the original taking place in 1996 at BT North Star House and the second 20 years ago in 2003 at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon.
Local Children in Need fundraisers are also being encouraged to connect with the Space Station on the day and tell us about their own fundraising endeavours. Fundraisers hotline to Space Station Pudsey is press@tbesw.co.uk – so please make contact.
Beaming up to the Space Station as co-organiser for the second time will be Anita Jaynes who is also celebrating 10 years since founding The Business Exchange.
" This brings back very happy memories for me. We had a fantastic time here with the team from BBC Wiltshire in 2003 and had tremendous support from shoppers. The location for this event is even better this time with festive decorations adding to the excitement".
Anita will be joined by Dave Latham who devised the previous events and has been a keen supporter of BBC Children in Need over several decades. Our Space Station presenters will include former BBC radio broadcasters Graham Seaman and Mark Jones. Swindon based Clive Atkins will generously provide sound for the occasion.
New to Space Station Pudsey will be Robert Cowley and his colleagues from Project Dalek.
"Fantastic to be part of this fundraising initiative" says Robert, " I think this location is superb and fits in with the theme so well. The recently opened area of the shopping complex is beautiful and looks a little bit like the inside of a spaceship".
Dalek builder and veteran supporter of the Space Station is fundraiser John Chapman who sums it up.
" A great day out for everyone getting involved and my whole family will be there. It will be out of this world !".
Standby for more updates from outer space coming soon…..
