SINGAPORE, 18th October 2018 -- McArthurGlen, Europe’s leading designer outlet group, has won in the ‘Best Outlet Mall’ category at this year’s ‘Travel Weekly Asia’ Readers’ Choice Awards.
This is the third consecutive year that the McArthurGlen Group has received the outlet award as voted for by readers of the leading Asian travel trade publication.
McArthurGlen’ portfolio of 24 designer outlets in nine countries across Europe and Canada is welcoming record numbers of Asian shoppers who continue to deliver double-digit revenue growth year-on-year. Analysis of tax-free sales at McArthurGlen centres shows Asian tourists spend up to eight times more than domestic shoppers.
Vice President for Northstar Travel Group Asia, Irene Chua, said: “This award recognises the excellence that the McArthurGlen team consistently strives for in its business, the exemplary qualities represented by its brand and the wholehearted dedication of its staff. Companies like McArthurGlen help to make the travel industry a vibrant and dynamic community.”
McArthurGlen’s Head of International Development, Jamie Gibson, said: “We would like to thank Travel Weekly Asia and its readers for voting for McArthurGlen Designer Outlets. Our guests from Asia are extremely important to us. We will continue to work hard to deliver the finest shopping and tourism experiences, offering the world’s best-loved brands at 30-70% less all year round.”
The award comes at a time of rapid growth for McArthurGlen, which opened Europe’s first designer outlet in the UK in 1995. The company will enter its 10th market in 2019 when it opens McArthurGlen Malaga, the first designer outlet in the south of Spain. It is currently expanding two of its existing centres in the UK - Cheshire Oaks near Manchester, which is the country’s largest designer outlet, and Ashford near London. It has just started construction on its seventh British centre, a new £160 million development in Cannock in the West Midlands. Earlier this year, the company announced that it will be adding a second phase to its award-winning centre at Vancouver Airport in Canada.
